Prime Implementer
Brief Background
YP Action began implementing the USAID Burundi Enhancing Outcomes for Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) Activity in FY2017 . Known locally as Mwigeme Kerebuka Urabishoboye, the project’s principal objective is to mitigate the risk of HIV infection, unintended pregnancies, transactional sex, and gender-based violence among vulnerable adolescent girls (ages 10–18). The Burundi AGYW Activity is being implemented in Kayanza, Bujumbura and Gitega. This three-year activity will reach 10,000 AGYW. Activities are focused on the following results:
IR 1- Vulnerable adolescent girls have improved knowledge of and are better able to use services that contribute to improve their health
IR2- Adolescent girls and their parents/caretakers have improved access to socio-economic resources that improve their capacity to confront the challenges associated with HIV/AIDS
