About the Event
The following speakers provided unique perspectives on the role young people play in climate action.
- Alexa Silva Varela is a young peacebuilder and activist from Costa Rica with experience in climate justice, climate mobility, human mobility, gender equality, peace and humanitarian attention. Alexa has a bachelor in International Relations and a Master in Gender and Peacebuilding from the University for Peace - UN Established. Alexa is a Young Peacebuilder of the UNAOC since 2022 and a Climate Mobility Fellow of the Global Center for Climate Mobility since COP28 where she was an advocate for the protection and human rights of climate activists and people on the move.
- Azeez Tobi Abubakar is the Founder and Executive Director of Sustainable Solutions for Green Growth. A LEED Green Associate, Yunus & Youth Fellow, and World Economic Forum Global Shaper, he is dedicated to driving progress and positive change in sustainability. Azeez has a wealth of experience working on climate projects across the world, focusing on practical solutions to climate change and social impact issues. In his past roles as Global Citizen Fellow, he had contributed to the fight against extreme poverty. He is committed to creating a more sustainable and equitable future.
