RETO developed the Youth Research Internship Program to support youth to gain work experience and to reinforce their knowledge and skills related to research, evidence gathering, public policy, and violence prevention. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded the Youth Research Internship Program, which was implemented by the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and its national partners in Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras. Over three months, Gabriela attended 216 hours of on-site sessions at the Fundación Salvadoreña para el Desarrollo Económico y Social (FUSADES), one of RETO's national partners. She also participated in 84 hours of complementary virtual learning sessions facilitated by IRC.
