Description of the Convening:
The potential of agriculture in creating the much needed jobs for the growing youth population remains uncontested. However, the majority of youth from around the world do not see a future for themselves in agriculture and farming in particular. The broader food systems perspective offers an opportunity to understand agriculture beyond just farming. Modern information, communication technologies (ICTs), the use of social media and other digital solutions have a proven track record of attracting youth through different pathways along the food system value chain.
Goals of the Convening:
- Harness the role of ICTs and digital solutions as viable pathways for youth to contribute towards the productivity of the food systems
- Share practical experiences and lessons with youth centered initiatives and young ICT and digital solutions entrepreneurs along the food system value chain
- Identify key, concrete solutions for enhancing ICTs and digital solutions for youth
