Sustainability professional and Founder of The Climate Education Initiative Project, Azeez Tobi Abubakar, joins us in The PYD Lab to share his passion for climate action, sustainable development, and innovation. We discuss green job opportunities for Nigerian youth and Azeez shares essential skills young people need for success in the sector.
“Young people really need a lot of soft skills. They need to be able to communicate effectively [and] work in the multicultural space as well,” Abubakar says. “...Especially when it comes to the green space, I think a lot of young people [also] need to...think about professional certifications. All of these combined, and, if you're able to also take your time to practice what you're learning, would really help in making you more employable.”
We also explore the role of stakeholders in helping young professionals navigate challenges in the sustainability job market. This episode offers insights for those interested in sustainability, youth economic opportunities, and the future of green careers. Tune in at youthpower.org/pydlab and on all major podcast platforms.
