About the Event
The COVID-19 pandemic has upended decades of work on gender equality and undermined progress in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and gender-based violence. As we emerge from the pandemic, our panelists led a discussion on what youth-led programmatic actions need to be implemented in order to address SRH and GBV.
In this webinar, panelists discussed adapting youth-led programming and addressing the emerging needs of the community to address gender-based health disparities in this new normal. Our speakers from Roots of Health in the Philippines, Mujeres Aliadas in Mexico and Soul City Institute in South Africa shared their perspectives from their regions. They addressed how the new norms have a direct impact on SRH for youth, how to identify these norms, and how we emerge from the pandemic to respond to issues related to SRH and GBV.
The speakers:
- Phinah Kodisang, CEO, Soul City Institute (South Africa)
- Aika Pagusara, Youth Advocacy Manager, Roots of Health (Philippines)
- Lisel Lifshitz, Executive Director, Mujeres Aliadas (Mexico)
Presented by USAID's YouthPower 2: Learning and Evaluation Activity, the Gender Community of Practice (CoP) serves youth, practitioners in youth-serving organizations, and policymakers.
