YouthPower Learning conducted a cross-sectoral youth assessment at the request of USAID/Kyrgyz Republic that utilized a Positive Youth Development (PYD) lens to better understand the status and aspirations of Kyrgyz youth ages 14-28 in their journey from adolescence to adulthood. USAID will use these insights to adjust its future strategic approach. The assessment included a desk review of over 100 documents plus a field study, conducted between March and April 2019, which included 32 peer group discussions with 317 male and female youth ages 18-28 and 52 key informant interviews with NGO, government, and donor stakeholders.
This summary brief contains an overview of the purpose and methodology, the assessment findings, promising structures and programs promoting PYD in the Kyrgyz Republic, and recommendations for the future of PYD in the Kyrgyz Republic.
