About the Event
Global challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath, violent conflict, climate change, and the backlash against women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights are further exacerbating gender disparities. At the current pace of progress, SDGs achieving gender equality will not be met by 2030. Women’s movements must continue to lead efforts for advancing gender equality, but we need to be intentional in engaging men and boys to achieve results.
This webinar focused on the importance of men and boys as allies in the fight for gender equality, and provide tools for reflection and action to engage with them in this effort. Participants learned from experts in the field, engaged in interactive discussions and gain practical tools and strategies for promoting gender equality in their own communities. This interactive workshop to explored strategies and skills on how to promote positive masculinities and engage men and boys to advance gender equality.
The speakers were:
- Bafana Khumalo Co-Founder and Co-Executive Director, Sonke Gender Justice
- Courtney McLarnon, the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Advisor at the Center on Gender Equity and Health (GEH) at the University of California, San Diego
