Youth and Agriculture: Key Challenges and Concrete Solutions

This publication provides real life examples on how to re-engage youth in agriculture. It shows how tailor-made educational programmes can provide rural youth with the skills and insights needed to engage in farming and adopt environmentally friendly production methods. Many of the initiatives and approaches reported in this study originate from the youth themselves.

It also provides 47 case studies illustrating how youth can be engaged in agriculture in six areas. Cases were selected from those submitted by over 1400 entities to illustrate workable evidence-based approaches to youth in agriculture, e.g., youth agricultural resource centers, rebranding agriculture in schools, a youth venture capital fund, green jobs, certifying youth social businesses and includes some examples from Europe and the US.
