Do you have current users or testers?

The Community, Family, and Youth Resilience Program funded by USAID and implemented by Creative Associates International has introduced asset mapping to youth in St. Lucia, St. Kitts & Nevis, and Guyana. Youth have been trained and are using the mobile app to map assets in their communities.

What is your strategy for expanding use of your innovation?

Asset mapping involves individuals contributing to a crowd-sourced mapping platform. Youth who have been trained in asset mapping can teach other community members their skills, and thus empower them to update the maps overtime. Community members can easily access this mapping platform using their mobile devices which makes this a low-cost, sustainable activity that is easily expandable.

At the same time, the need to frequently update the asset maps poses a challenge in incentivizing youth and identifying mechanisms to maintain the maps and ensure they continue as living documents to inform youth in the community going forward.
