ABOUT THE EVENT

While the importance of youth engagement is widely accepted in the youth employment sector, limited research exists around what meaningful youth engagement means and how to engage youth in employment programs that impact them. Conceptualized by the Youth Employment Funders Group (YEFG) and commissioned by Citi Foundation, Plan International’s research aims to close this knowledge gap with the launch of a roadmap, “Youth Voices in Youth Employment: A Roadmap for Promoting Meaningful Youth Engagement in Youth Employment Programs.”

On Tuesday, February 23rd, 2021, YouthPower will host the official launch event as we explore how to ensure the aspirations and priorities of young people are consistently reflected in programs, their rights are protected, and their voices heard. During this event we will thoroughly examine the definitions and applications of the toolkit by:

  • Defining and operationalizing meaningful youth engagement in youth employment programs,

  • Providing a walk-through of milestones and action steps per program life cycle stages, and

  • Sharing tangible experiences from youth, funders, and implementers on promoting meaningful youth engagement.

ABOUT ROADMAP

As part of Plan International’s global commitment to ensuring and protecting youth rights, “Youth Voices in Youth Employment: A Roadmap for Promoting Meaningful Youth Engagement in Youth Employment Programs,” establishes a first of its kind roadmap that guides funders in effectively embedding youth voices and rights into their youth employment strategies and programs. The effort was conceptualized by the Youth Employment Funders Group and commissioned by the Citi Foundation.
