Two Contracts - One Goal:
Improved Youth Programs
YouthPower includes two complementary, agency-wide, global contracts, YouthPower: Implementation and YouthPower: Evidence and Evaluation. These contracts are mutually reinforcing – task orders under each learn from and integrate the experiences of the others.
YouthPower helps make real the 2012 USAID Youth in Development Policy by focusing on improving the capacities and enabling the aspirations of youth so that they can themselves contribute to and benefit from more stable and prosperous communities. As a whole, YouthPower supports cross-sectoral, positive youth development (PYD) as an integrated approach to successfully building lasting assets.

YouthPower Learning
Building the evidence base for positive youth development
The first task focused on evidence and evaluation – YouthPower Learning – leads research, evaluations, and events designed to build the evidence base for what works in PYD. To improve PYD practice, YouthPower Learning develops guidance for measuring PYD, build the evidence of PYD practice, and organizes and disseminates results of activities from across YouthPower. The Learning Network, including this web site and communities of practice, engages and informs the global community to help advance solutions to improve young lives.
YouthPower Action
Scaling positive youth development in all sector and country contexts
The first task to focus on implementation – YouthPower Action – is dedicated to scaling evidence-based positive youth development in all sectors and country contexts. YouthPower Action supports the Agency’s goal of strengthening youth programming across all USAID geographies and sectors. Activities that increase youth engagement and youth voice will be infused throughout YouthPower Action.
Several Task Orders have been awarded for implementation projects, assessments and evaluations.
YouthPower Learning uses grants to engage with youth and contribute to the learning of the network. Since inception, ten grants under contract have been awarded.
Promoting Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing
All YouthPower task orders promote a culture of learning by sharing technical reports, tools, and products through this web site - a centerpiece of shared learning as well as an active site for communities of practice, PYD practitioners, and more.
